The results of a USA Today/CNN/Gallup poll published Thursday mirrored a Washington Post/ABC News poll published a day earlier not only in percentage points, but in motivation -- the war in Iraq and gas prices that exceeded $3 per gallon Wednesday.
Six of 10 Americans disapprove of Bush's handling of the economy, healthcare and Iraq. Of six issues, he scored a net positive rating only on handling terrorism, an area of strength since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
Bush's standing is worse than any other modern president at this point in a second term except Richard Nixon, who was then enmeshed in the Watergate scandal."
